What is the Envirothon?

The Envirothon is a chance for high school students to take the theories of the classroom and use them in practical applications. Environmental education needs some hands on experience--for the kids to get out, get their feet wet, and get their hands muddy.

Environmental science requires a grounding in so many disciplines that teamwork is a must. Students have a chance to specialize in the fields of: aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, and a current issue unique to that year. Throughout the year, students are taught the basics of each field. Before the Envirothon an expert in each field teaches more in depth topics. Students form teams composed of a specialist in each field and compete in challenges that pertain to each field.
